Manhattan: No one is a bigger animal lover than I am, but let’s do some realistic soul-searching into the horse-drawn carriage debate. The Central Park horse industry is well-regulated and, love or hate the practice, these horses are fed, housed and their every medical need is met. If they go into the rescue system, there will be others in far more dire circumstances that won’t be rescued. Please let’s get the knee-jerk emotions out of the equation and do what’s best for all the really tragic cases that need addressing. Colleen Kelly
