Horses & carriages go together (April 12, 2014: New York Daily News)

Versailles, Ky.: To Voicer Penny Siegel: Why do you believe the carriage horses are being tortured? They are among the most regulated animals on the planet, and no less than five agencies look after their welfare. If you really believe that they are being tortured despite all this oversight, you are inhaling the drivel espoused by those looking to take over their real estate. My daughter and I are carriage drivers, too, although not professionally (see photo). Should we be banned, too? In regards to you losing your job: I am sorry. So, since you lost your job, you think it is okay for a viable business enterprise to be done away with, so they will also find themselves on the dole? I find that mind-boggling. And the humans wouldn’t be the only ones unemployed — so would the horses. Working animals are happier, healthier and better adjusted than those that lie around like slugs.
