Athens, N.Y.: As a former city resident and frequent visitor, I have been following the plight of the carriage horses closely. Let’s not forget that PETA is also behind this proposed ban. These are the same people who want to remove dogs from all homes and animals from farms. Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA, said it bluntly: “Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.” Kerry Sager
