A magical ride (April 25, 2014: New York Daily News)

Alvin, Tex.: We were in New York City for the Westminster Dog Show in February. The one other thing I wanted to do was to get to ride in a carriage in Central Park. It was magical. It was so peaceful, in such a busy town. The horses were comfortably covered until they began walking. They were stopped frequently for water and carrots. The driver gave us an excellent tour of the park and of the surrounding areas. The relationship he had with his mare was amazing. We then went to the carriage house. It was spotless, and the box stalls were large, comfortable and very clean. The horses we saw were relaxed, and appeared happy and contented. I have been around horses all my life in Texas, and I actually do know the difference between good stables and bad ones, and stressed horses and happy ones. I agree with the myriad of equine vets who have written that the horses are in excellent, healthy care, and are well-loved, cherished members of their families. Sharon Middleton
