Horse sense (May 9, 2014: New York Daily News)

Manhattan: I find it appalling that the mayor has chosen to destroy an iconic industry which has been a charming tourist attraction in New York City for so many years. No one comes to New York City to ride in an electric car. I myself am a horse owner and I know the expense and commitment involved in caring for these large, wonderful animals. The carriage owners love their horses no less than I love mine and give them excellent care. They are well groomed, well fed and stabled in very clean facilities. I have been to Vienna several times, where I have seen more horse-drawn carriages than in New York. Let the mayor drop this ridiculous crusade and actually do something that might instead help people. Hillary Chaves
