De Blasio blows it (February 10, 2016: New York Daily News)

Brooklyn: It was foolish, just foolish for Mayor de Blasio to pick a fight with the unions he needs to see his progressive agenda through. Unfortunately for him, the City Council also saw through his horse-drawn carriage restructuring plan and shut it down. The former public advocate, de Blasio was supposed to be the anti-Bloomberg; that is, he was supposed to put the interests of everyday New Yorkers over those of big business. But now he is politically toxic and it is unlikely that he’ll get anything done through the end of his term next year. This is unfortunate, as crime, affordable housing and unsafe driving remain tough issues for our city. God bless New York. Howard Jay Meyer
