Lucky horses (February 11, 2016: New York Daily News)

Fairfax, Vt.: Re horse carriages: It is obvious that Mayor de Blasio has pissed away a small fortune and a lot of people’s time, especially the City Council’s. He must owe his financial backers a great debt, to push on an institution so few people are against, a tourist industry that supports many jobs for people as well as 200 horses. Whether people want to believe it or not, this is a good life for today’s domestic horse, especially large breeds that need to work to maintain healthy bones and muscles. In today’s world, a horse with good food, good care and an owner who loves it is a lucky horse indeed. They are fine in the city and people love them. The mayor needs to let this go. Susie Webb
