Gift horses and mouths (April 3, 2016: New York Daily News)

Manhattan: Mayor de Blasio swears that the money donated to his secret-money Campaign for One New York never, ever influenced him, and that the group is closing up shop because its work is done. Wealthy anti-carriage-horse zealots Steve Nislick and Wendy Neu gave $125,000 to the group, in coordination with their meetings with the mayor. Does this mean that the crony campaign against carriage horses is finally done, too? I’m so glad that the Campaign for One New York has achieved the mayor’s goals to solve all of New York’s problems surrounding income inequality. If it’s all done, why do we need to reelect de Blasio? Oh, I see: CONY is done, because if there were a real investigation, the mayor would be done, too. Christina Hansen
