Whoa, Alan (June 16, 2015: New York Daily News)

Odessa, Fla.: Alan Cumming has it all wrong regarding carriage horses in major cities. Carriage horses still do give tours in London, Paris and Toronto. Salt Lake City did ban the industry, but only after the last carriage operator closed up and retired. There was no current carriage business in Salt Lake when it opted to close its streets to commercial carriages. The industry in NYC has an outstanding safety record and the most regulated horses in the world. I am not in the carriage industry, but I am an equine professional, and I and many other equine professionals have seen New York’s horses and their care and living conditions. These horses have better standards of care than 70% of the horses in the world. Andrea Whiting
