Arrogance uber alles (July 27, 2015: New York Daily News)

Ithaca: Apparently Mayor de Blasio didn’t learn from his ill-fated attempt to stack the deck in the carriage-horse game. His choice of a group closely tied to both developers and anti-horse interests to perform the Environmental Impact Study was called out for the huge conflict of interest it was. I’m not sure if the repeat performance with the Uber freeze and study (“Bill gets kicked in the app,” editorial, July 23) reflects tone-deafness, foolishness or a lack of respect for the intelligence of the average New Yorker — or all three. But hey, at least he’s consistent. Kathryn Baker

Horse carriages get a bad rap (July 23, 2015: New York Daily News)

Odessa, Fla.: Russell Simmons is a hypocrite if he wants to ban horse carriages because they are “cruel” (“Allies: Bill, kill horse biz already,” July 15), yet wants to make the sport of polo more available to the masses. Seriously? Polo horses work and train very hard for their sport. Carriage horses quietly plod along. What a huge disconnect. Secondly, I don’t think Simmons knows the first thing about horses. He isn’t qualified to give an educated opinion. Thirdly, the electric cars are lemons. They’re a product nobody wants, except the people responsible for building the green monstrosities. Andrea Whiting
