Horse carriage ban would cost jobs (October 7, 2015: Staten Island Advance)

By Ted Maloy

To Linda Barizone and the rest of her Your Opinion ilk: Enough already with the cry to ban horse carriages in the city. The business is regulated, taxed and inspected. You think it’s cruel so you wish to put hundreds of people out of a job?

Are you a vegan? Do you eat meat? Do you wear leather belts? Designer shoes? The carriage horses are treated much more humanely than the animal your designer purse died for that you bring to a restaurant for a nice piece of beef.

Do you have pets? Are you one of those folks who think it’s so cute to drive down the street with their dog in their lap? I’ll bet those geniuses cause more accidents than horse carriages.

Unless you live off the land and only eat plants, you have no right to complain. And if you do live off the land and eat plants – no one cares. There are thousands of more pressing matters that you can support.
