A desperate man (December 28, 2015: New York Daily News)

Manhattan: New York City is fortunate to have the NYPD and its Anti-Terrorism Task Force working overtime this Christmas so that people like me and my children and grandchildren can enjoy a horse-carriage ride in the park on a clear moonlit night. But this makes me wonder: Who is protecting us from the lawlessness of Mayor de Blasio? He has shredded the Freedom of Information Law by stalling on requested documents if they touch on a politically sensitive subject. Now, with the rebuke from the public and City Council on his proposal to kill the horse-carriage industry, who will protect us from whatever desperate unilateral measures he might take in the future against the hard-working drivers? We know what he has attempted in the past and that is enough to make us concerned for the future. Only the vigilance of the public, a strong City Council and a free press stands between a desperate mayor and the law. Craig Sheldon
