Carriage Horse Deal Is Really About Land (January 21, 2016: Wall Street Journal)
The carriage horse deal is lose-lose for New York (“Deal Would Restrict Horses to Park,” Jan. 15). It means park space is lost to stabling and there are fewer rides for tourists and romantics. Meanwhile, back at the stables, we now have an “empty” spot ripe for yet another banal luxury tower now that the Far West Side is gentrifying. This deal was never about the “poor, overworked” horses. It was and still is a land grab.
