Barto, Pa.: I just watched a six-hour video of the City Council hearing on Mayor de Blasio’s so-called compromise with the carriage industry. If it weren’t so serious, parts of it would have been very entertaining. Besides the complete lack of facts and details about the bill, it should be obvious to everyone that witnessed this that the animal-rights advocates speak from a position of ignorance. They talk about feeling sad and depressed looking at the “miserable” horses at the hack stand. The horses at the hack stand are just relaxed while they wait for a fare. People who have actual equine experience tell them that all the time, but they can’t let their anthropomorphism be altered by the truth. Barbara Steever
