Blinders off (May 12, 2014: New York Daily News)

Atlanta, Ga.: To Voicer Ali Riojas: Someone attacked a cat that was probably one-tenth of his size or less, with full intent to injure if not kill it, purely for entertainment. And yet you’re suggesting that it’s logical to equate that actual act of animal cruelty and physical abuse with your misguided sense of animal “slavery.” Tethering is the equivalent of putting a leash on a dog — it keeps a potentially dangerous animal from running at large. Blinders are used for the safety of horses, so they don’t spook or shy into potentially dangerous situations. If you don’t see the difference between the malicious abuse of an animal, and living and working in harmony with one, you might be the one with blinders on. Kathryn Dodd
