Consider the source (July 20, 2014: New York Daily News)

Bolingbrook, Ill.: The only true thing that Bill Maher wrote in his guest column “This cruelty is no laugh” (July 17) was that he’s a “former New Yorker and a PETA board member.” The rest is nothing but conjecture and flat-out lies. Really, are we going to take the word of someone who refuses to tour the stables and is a board member of PETA, a group that by its own admission kills close to 90% of the animals its shelters take in and supports legalizing horse slaughter? And let’s not forget that PETA is in bed with NYCLASS, which is currently under investigation by the FBI for its campaign contributions to elect Mayor de Blasio. Nice try, Bill, but people have woken up to what this is really all about — money, power and real estate. Laura McFarland-Taylor
