Endangered tradition (October 2, 2014: New York Daily News)

Brooksville, Fla.: Although I’m all the way in Florida, I’ve been watching the ridiculous antics of people from NYCLASS and PETA trying to get rid of horse-drawn carriages in N.Y.C. Replace carriages with electric cars? Sure, because everyone’s just dying to head to Central Park in the fall for a romantic car ride. Those horses are gorgeous and obviously well cared-for. The industry’s safety record is spectacular, and they are regulated far more heavily than in any other city. I believe New York City would lose its humanity along with the carriage horses. Kelly Arnold
