Horse sense (December 4, 2014: New York Daily News)

Brooklyn: The late philosopher Martin Buber once wrote, “An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.” Who is really speaking for the horses within the horse-carriage industry? It is not the false Dr. Dolittles from NYCLASS. Rather, it is the overwhelming majority of veterinarians who have testified for many government agencies as well as the ASPCA that the horses within this fine industry are safe and well taken care of by the stable owners, the stable workers and the drivers themselves. There has not been one reputable vet who has said that the horse-carriage industry is a threat to the lives of the horses. The veterinarians speak the language of science and health. The carriage-ban protesters speak the language of deceit and dubious finances. Fr. Brian Jordan
