Another Blas Disaster: Horse Bill Put To Pasture (February 6, 2016: New York Post)

Last August, I flew from Oregon to spend a weekend in New York with a friend of 40 years.
What was the first thing we did in Central Park? We took a horse carriage ride (“Kick in the Horse’s Ass!” Feb. 5).

Why? We are both life-long horse enthusiasts. I’m a horse owner and have been around horses most of my life. My friend has been riding for over 20 years. Riding a carriage in Central Park has been on my bucket list for about 45 years.

We closely observed the horses and carriages. We saw healthy, happy horses. All were of good weight and body condition. Many were napping. None were abused in any way whatsoever.

This bill was bad legislation: bad for horses, bad for tourism, bad for jobs and ultimately bad for New York.

Mayor Ahab remains obsessed – he’s going down with the ship.

Then the carriage horses kicked him in the head and all that did was make him declare – again – he’ll kill them or die trying.

We know how this book ends.

Bravo to the Teamsters Union for shutting down comrade Mayor de Blasio’s carriage-horse debacle.

Why doesn’t this moron get the message and just ride off into the sunset?

He’s beyond despicable and hell-bent on destroying New York City.

Let us hope the citizens come to their senses when they vote next time.

Hizzoner really knows how to alienate as many constituents as possible.

He’s a self-declared “working-class advocate” yet proposes to throw hundreds of working-class people out of work, and to spend a minimum of $25 million of taxpayers’ money inside Central Park to house an industry he calls “inhumane.”

The entire deal was nonsense.

Riding in a horse-drawn carriage in NYC is one of the safest ways to travel. Check the latest NYC transportation report for actual statistics.
