**Celebrity sweepstakes (December 24, 2014: New York Daily News)**

Manhattan: The actor Danny Glover came out against Mayor de Blasio’s proposed ban on horse carriages. Incredibly, when asked for his reaction to Glover’s involvement, the mayor’s response was, “We don’t make decisions based on celebrities.” Really? I seem to recall him proudly trotting out (no pun intended) actress Cynthia Nixon during his mayoral campaign. Arlene Medow
