Gone too far (February 11, 2015: New York Daily News)

Manhattan: I have much respect for Voicer Bob Barker, but his recent letter was dismaying. The carriage horses of Central Park are not only strong, they are more than acclimated to New York City and all its attendant noises and stressors — just as more than 8 million people are. The horses are not these “beleaguered” and pitiful creatures Barker is imagining — quite the contrary. In proclaiming he “agrees with PETA,” Barker should be reminded that PETA opposes all “use” of animals, including “riding” horses to school, as Barker says his childhood friends did. In fact, the true agenda of PETA is the eventual elimination of all domesticated animals, including horses, cats and dogs. Is that something Barker really wants to hang his hat on? Patty Adjamine
