What horses like (March 7, 2015: New York Daily News)

Hampton, Conn.: The idea that horses need to be kept inside in the cold and snowy weather is ludicrous. I have owned horses for over 20 years and despite open access to shelter, they choose to stand outside in cold weather. The majority of people behind this campaign to ban the carriages are not horse people, and most of them have no real knowledge. Horses enjoy work and they thrive on activity. What will become of them if they are taken from their people? More than likely they will end up at auction and, ultimately, the kill buyers. I urge legislators to stand up for these iconic animals. Don’t destroy the tradition of New York and the livelihoods of the carriage drivers and all the people who provide their daily care. Nancy Chambers
