From the horse’s mouth (April 14, 2015: New York Daily News)

Manhattan: Liam Neeson is right (“Liam: Horse study seals deal for me,” April 9). The cortisol study by Dr. Joe Bertone of Western University should put to rest the great carriage horse debate. The New York City carriage horses are already endorsed by the American Veterinary Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the New York State Veterinary Society. Despite all of this expert testimony, animal-rights extremists continue to assert without evidence that the horses are abused. Enough is enough. It’s time for the City Council to listen to the horses and two-thirds of New Yorkers and vote “no” on the carriage ban. Christina Hansen, NYC carriage driver
