Horses and healing (May 2, 2015: New York Daily News

Barneveld, N.Y.: My husband and I are both patients at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Last month I learned I am cancer-free, so we celebrated that and hubby’s birthday with a carriage ride. We’re back in NYC next week for his appointments at Sloan-Kettering. We don’t know what his news will be. Either way, a carriage ride is in order! Seeing Central Park from the seat of a carriage, conversing with the knowledgeable drivers about New York’s past and present and enjoying the clip-clop as the horses take us along the paths designed by Olmsted and Vaux for this exact purpose brings a sense of peace and serenity. Hubby and I have done this as many times as we can when we visit New York — and we’re here every three months throughout the year. We are never disappointed! Susan D. Smith
